Be More Social Media Friendly
These days, social media and photo sharing are at an all-time high and the trend keeps going up and up. People love taking photos on their phones, and love to share them even more. Getting those those comments and likes actually release dopamine in people, so why not tap into it? When thinking about your product or service, think about how you can get your customers to take their phones out and start snapping. Chances are if they’re snapping, they’re sharing!
Social media is your best, free asset
When people take photos of your product or service and share it on social media, you are getting some free advertising for doing absolutely nothing but existing and looking great. We see it at every restaurant – a pretty plate will light up someone’s face and make them take their phone out. A cup of coffee with a few extra seconds spent on a cute foam design gets tons of shares and – in turn – free promo for the coffee house. Employees with exciting attitudes or stores with interesting experiences always generate buzz, as well.
Make it shareable
Making your product or service shareable on social media is more important now than ever. Think about it: we love photos of adorable cookies, creative cakes, or even an adorable puppy. Without ever touching or seeing the product in person for ourselves, we know we want it. The cookie might taste horrible, but the perceived value of how good it looks makes us not even care. How can you make your product shareable?
Simple ways to get started
Not sure how to make your product or service shareable or social media friendly? While developing a social media strategy and how it will all work together is a whole effort in and of itself, we came up with a few simple ways you can get started today:
- Put some more of your budget into a graphic designer to make your packaging more interesting that people will want to share
- Research your favorite brands, or brands that share the same target audience as you, to see what photos their customers are sharing
- Give your service a gimmick – such as Best Buy’s “Geek Squad” or Maytag’s “Maytag Man” to give your brand a better perceived value and trust. In turn, it will make people look forward to seeing your employees – and maybe even take pictures with them!
- If you have a brick-and-mortar location, simply set up a branded “photo booth” in your shop. This can be as simple as a pair of angel wings painted on the wall with your logo on them, a cut-out of an Instagram frame with your tag on it or even an actual touch-screen photo booth you can purchase and set up and brand. The easier it is for people to share photos, the quicker your name is being spread around the internet.
