5 Easy Ways to Improve Your Online Presence Today

Digital marketing can seem like a pretty large beast to tame. There seems to be endless strategies and complex things to do in order to make your business stand out these days, and there definitely are. Figuring out exactly where to start can seem like a daunting task that people often abandon, but luckily for you we’ve rounded up a few simple tricks you can do yourself to get to the next step!

Check out our recommendations for the bare minimum – 5 easy ways you can improve your online presence TODAY:

Have a search-friendly website

First and foremost: Make sure you have a functional, search-friendly website to drive traffic to. This is the #1 way to boost your online presence. We recommend using WordPress as your content management system, since it works the best with search engines. They offer a wealth of different templates to use, so all you need to do is plug-and-play if you don’t have the budget for a full-on designer and coder.

It is also important to install Google and Bing Analytics onto the back end so that you can track your traffic, as well as take part in ads and other services offered by Google and Bing. Don’t worry – WordPress offers plugins to help you do this with just a few clicks. In the same vein, place your Facebook pixel as well so you can accurately track any ads or leads that come from social media.

Also, make sure you install an SEO plugin, such as Yoast, onto your website. This tool can help even the most beginner of all beginners make their website pages good enough.

Set up all your social media accounts

Create all your social media handles across all platforms. This includes Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Pinterest. Try your best to make sure all of your social media handles are the same across the board, as this will ensure that you are easier to search for.

It is important to make sure your profile photo is the same across the board, as well. It is industry best practice to use your logo as your profile photo, rather than a product photo. This ensures that you are easier to recognize, as well as more professional and friendly while communicating with your customers online.

Claim your business listings

Make sure you claim your business listings on websites such as Yelp, Google My Business and Bing Places for Business. There are hundreds of other business listings you can claim (click here to read our previous blog all about them), but these are the most important. Make sure you plug in all your correct information and set up your review sites so that you’re able to communicate on them.

Participate in outreach

Digital marketing is a two-way street. Scratch someone’s back and they will scratch yours as well. It is important to participate in other conversations to help get the word out about your business, rather than sitting back and waiting for them to all come to you. This means participating in hashtags, the Explore feed on Instagram, Facebook Groups, Twitter talks and much more. Do a little research to find where your customers are and go and get them.

Spend 30 minutes a day

All it takes when starting out is about 30 minutes a day to spend on your digital marketing. Make sure you post on all your social media platforms, answer all your reviews (negative or positive!), and engage in comments and outreach everyday. While this may sound like a lot of work, all it takes is about 30 minutes a day to keep consistent and watch your accounts significantly grow. Online presence is very much like a garden – they take time and patience, but eventually you will be able to reap the benefits!
