4 Places to Find Your Target Audience

Figuring out who your target audience is will be the most important part of your marketing strategy. Understanding their behaviors, likes, dislikes and more are all very important things that help shape your ongoing efforts. Once you have established all these things, like through an empathy mapping session, it’s time to go out and find your target audience. While target audiences vary greatly from business to business, by and large, there are 4 places where most of them are – and it’s up to you to go and get them!

Facebook

There are many great things about Facebook, but two of them include: billions of people are on it, and targeting people is very easy and robust. Start a likes campaign or some other type of ad set and get as specific as possible when building your demographic so that you’re reaching the right people. If you’re not getting conversions on those ads, it’s not that you’re targeting the wrong people. Just keep tweaking your ad until you find something that starts working.

The fun on Facebook doesn’t end with ads, either. You can do lots of valuable outbound engagement on Facebook through Facebook Groups. Yes, there are literally groups of people who come together with a common interest, and that common interest could be related to your business. Spend some time digging around and taking part in these conversations to get your name out there.

4 Places to Find Your Target Audience

Email

Everyone uses their email inbox throughout the day, meaning you can land right in your target audience’s desktop – or the palm of their hand – and have a pretty good chance of getting their eyes on you. Try out some lists or get some marketing automation going so that you can set up some meaningful email campaigns to make the sale. There are many ways you can incorporate email into your strategy, even if it’s just starting with a simple monthly newsletter.

News Sites

Most people enjoy reading the news, whether that is visiting the native news sites or skimming the headlines in a social media news ticker. Make sure you are in the comments section of relevant news articles that pertain to your business so that you can spread your name and the fact that you’re on top of the latest trends.

YouTube

Did you know that YouTube is the second-largest search engine? That means there is a very high likelihood that your target audience uses it, so get started on video production. People use YouTube for all sorts of things other than entertainment. How-tos or other useful videos are a great way to incorporate YouTube into your marketing strategy.
